{"id":4581,"date":"2020-10-11T03:33:06","date_gmt":"2020-10-11T08:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/debatablelands.aethelmearc.org\/blog\/?p=4581"},"modified":"2020-10-07T11:06:31","modified_gmt":"2020-10-07T16:06:31","slug":"forest-products-without-logging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/debatablelands.aethelmearc.org\/blog\/?p=4581","title":{"rendered":"Forest Products Without Logging?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>An environmentalist blog called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/earthbuddies.net\/\">Earthbuddies<\/a>&#8221; has been getting some attention for posting an article on the Japanese practice of <em>daisugi<\/em>, a method of cultivating cedar (&#8220;<em>sugi<\/em>&#8220;) trees to produce straight knot-free lumber that can be harvested without cutting down the tree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main trunk of the tree is pruned to create a platform (&#8220;<em>dai<\/em>&#8220;) that sends large shoots straight up into the air.
