Japanese Iris Festival

Greetings to all from the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands! The Japanese Iris Festival and Equestrian Champs Event will be held June 7th by the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands in nearby Brady’s Run Park. There will be an Equestrian Baronial Champs Tournament and Equestrian Challenges. It is also a day of martial activities and classes in the Japanese Iris Festival theme! We are welcoming all to come and enjoy not only a wonderful day in the park but also partake in Heavy, Fencing, and Thrown Weapons as well as immerse oneself in one of the several classes offered throughout the day!

The date is Saturday, June 7th, 2025 and the site is the horse arena at Brady’s Run, 121 Brady’s Run Rd, Beaver Falls, PA 15010. The site opens at 9 am and closes promptly at 7pm. There is a scrumptious boxed lunch planned to keep with the Japanese Iris Festival theme. Lunch is an additional $6.00 and is limited to 100 gentles. We will be in the horse arena (F) and picnic shelters 2 & 3 at Brady’s Run Park, 121 Brady’s Run Road, Beaver Falls, PA 15010 (park map). Troll will be located at Shelter 2, across from the horse arena. There is a small, covered viewing stand at the horse arena. Shelter 3 and the large, open field will be used for classes and martial activities. Shelter 3 also is where lunch will be served; it has a cold-water pump, but no sink basin or running hot water. The field next to Shelter 3 has areas with shade and open sun, is flat, and has parking areas around it. We encourage participants to bring a day-shade or pop-up for additional shade and comfort. Dumping any chemicals or waste other than trash in the trash bin is not permitted. There is only one electric outlet that must be shared.

Attention Forestry Guild, there is an arboretum with a hiking trail at the other end of the park near shelter 12.

  • Additional notes on Wheelchair Accessibility: Bathrooms are handicap accessible. The site is unpaved, but fairly level.
  • Additional Notes on Pet Policy: Pets should be on leash because of the horses. The event is in a public park, members of the public may walk through.

  • Directions:

    From Pittsburgh: Take 376 west. Take Chippawa exit 31, route 51. Go south on 51 to the and turn right into the park entrance. First you pass a large building, Bradys Run Recreation Facility. Just past the Recreation Facility, turn left at the road with the signs for Bradys Run Recycling Center and Horse Arena Shelters 1, 2 & 3. Then, immediately turn right.

    From points further south of Pittsburgh: Take 79 north, then 376 west and follow directions from Chippawa exit 31.

    From north of Cranberry, PA: Take 79 south to Cranberry and follow signs for PA turnpike and go west on turnpike, I76.

    From the turnpike: exit at Beaver Falls route 18. Take route 18 south. Just after the YMCA on the left, turn right on Veteran's bridge. Turn right after you cross the river on to 51 north. Take 51 north to the park entrance. Turn left into the park. First you pass a large building, Bradys Run Recreation Facility. Just past the Recreation Facility, turn left at the road with the signs for Bradys Run Recycling Center and Horse Arena Shelters 1, 2 & 3. Then, immediately turn right.

    From further further east: Take the PA turnpike west and follow the directions from exit at Beaver Falls route 18. When searching on maps online you can use the Bradys Run Ice Arena also known as the Bradys Run Recreation Facility.
