Reminder: Scriptorium tonight

From the event listing:

Scriptorium will be held at the home of Kameshima Zentaro Umakai and Isabel Fleuretan Wednesday, 20 April 2016 at 7:30PM.

An open roundtable on all things scribal, including what YOU would like to see in a Scriptorium! Do you want open project nights? Classes? Small-group workshops? We can make all these things happen, but we would like your input! It doesn’t matter if you’ve never picked up a brush or pen, or if you’ve been creating scrolls for 30 years, all are welcome. This is your Scriptorium.

Debatable Lands Unit Commanders Named!

Hello Debatable Lands!

It’s with great excitement that we announce Count Isenwulf as our Heavy Fighting Unit Commander. Count Isenwulf brings a lot of experience with him and we know he will represent us on the field most admirably. He can be contacted at knightmarshal@debatablelands.aethelmearc.org.

We’re also excited to announce that our Rapier Fighting Unit Commander is the Honorable Lord Jorundr. Our Baronial Squadron, Ragnarok, is in his very capable hands. He can be contacted at fencingmarshal@debatablelands.aethelmearc.org.

We invite all heavy and rapier fighters to fight with the Baronial Units. We are looking forward witnessing and supporting your Most Excellent deeds on the fields of glory!

Heavy Fight Practice Outdoors

Knight Marshal Isenwulf writes:

BMDL heavy fight practice moves outdoors this week. We’ll start off at 2:00, at the corner of Washington Boulevard and Butler Street in Highland park. Come out and prepare for the melee season!

Archery Practice resumes this Weekend!

Former Captain of Archers Brandubh writes:

Greetings All,

There will be outdoor archery at the Washington Blvd site this Sunday April 17 starting at 11:00 and running till 2.

Also – please join me in welcoming our new Baronial Captain of Archers, Lady Katheryn Tantzel. Lady Katheryn took over this position from me just this past week, and will now be the main point of contact for Archery News.

Their Majesties Want Award Recommendations!

Hello Debatable Lands!

Their Majesties’ missive in the May Kingdom newsletter mentions that They wish to continue to receive recommendation letters! We hope everyone will continue to write in worthy gentles. To make it a little easier for you:

Who?

Anyone, from newcomers to Royal Peers! Anyone can be recognized for their good works. If you’re not sure if the person has the award you are thinking of recommending, check the Order of Precedence.

If you need some inspiration for Debatable Landers, Steltonwalders, and Cour d’Or folks, scroll through the Dark Pages (under Off-site resources)!

What?

There’s a nice list of Kingdom awards here: http://www.sca.org/awards/aethelmearc.html.

There’s also some more detail about what awards are appropriate in the series of articles in the Althing from a few years ago. Here’s a quick link to the articles directly. The articles are outdated by a few years (missing some awards, like the new Peerage!). We’ll work on an update soon, but the information is still handy in the meantime.

How?

For Kingdom awards, either use the form here, or email ae.king@aethelmearc.org and ae.queen@aethelmearc.org (make sure your subject line is clear).

We also love Baronial award recommendations for Comets and the Order of Copernicus! We’re working on writing a more detailed description of those (watch this space), but no need to wait! You can email those to us directly at baron@debatablelands.aethelmearc.org, and baroness@debatablelands.aethelmearc.org.

Sunday Practices, April 10th

Some are at the ECS, and some at the Catle, so please read carefully!

First off, don’t forget about the Region 2 Archery Muster at the Castle!

Youth Marshal Fredeburg wrote:

Youth Combat will be held at its usual time (2-4 or as demands requires), but for this week we are moving tot he castle in conjunction with the archery muster.

Come shoot and throw in the morning (the muster starts at 10) and fight after lunch.

Knight Marshal Isenwulf wrote:

Greetings heavy fighters,

Baronial heavy weapons practice will be held this Sunday, beginning at 2 PM, at the Environmental Charter School, 829 Milton Street in Regent Square. See you all there!

Marshal of Fence Jorundr wrote:

Debatable Lands fencing practice will continue this week at the Environmental Charter School starting at 2 PM.

Remember that this is our last scheduled indoor practice of the year and next week we will be at the Washington Blvd. site. Unless the weather doesn’t cooperate, in which case we will be using the ECS as backup, and will announce the change on this list.

New Baronial Signet

Hello Debatable Lands!

We would like to thank Meesteres Odriana for her work and dedication as Baronial Signet. As she has taken up a new role as Seneschal of these fine Lands, she has retired as Signet.
Please welcome The Honorable Lady Rachel Dalicieux, new citizen of the Barony, as your new Baronial Signet. As always, we are humbled and amazed by the talent of the scribes in these lands. If any scribes would like to contribute to the Barony’s scrolls, please reach out to THL Rachel. She will be giving more detail directly.
Vivant to THL Rachel and Meesteres Odriana!

Officer Meeting RESCHEDULED

Tonight’s Officer’s Meeting is being RESCHEDULED!!!!

This morning we were made aware of a visit to CMU’s campus by Hilary Rodham Clinton that will be today at 6:00 p.m. This pretty much makes parking on or near campus impossible and we were unable to find an acceptable alternate venue with such short notice.

We will be rescheduling this meeting for next Wednesay on CMU’s campus from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The location will be announced within the next couple of days.

If you were submitting a budget request tonight, please send that to the Seneschal, Odriana, via email (seneschal@debatablelands.aethelmearc.org). The Officers can then review those requests in advance of next week. This is particularly important if you will be unable to attend the rescheduled meeting. There will be no vote before the meeting to allow additional commentary by the populace.

We apologize for any inconvenience and for the short notice. If you have any questions or need more information, please contact the Seneschal directly.
