Kudos to the Barony from the Laurel Principal Queen of Arms

I received the following missive from Master Alaric MacConnell today and wanted to share this with the entire Barony:

Commendations

I would like to commend Alaric MacConnal, Raven Whiteheart, and the rest of the staff of this year’s Known World Heraldic Symposium, held in Pittsburgh, PA, June 8-10. It was a great time and well attended. You guys set a high bar for others to match.

Publishable Summary

The 2018 Known World Heraldic and Scribal Symposium was held in Pittsburgh, PA, in the Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands. Alaric Mac Connal and Raven Whiteheart did great work as event stewards; the entire Barony was welcoming. We’ll be talking about the reception at the castle and the performances for a long time.

Thank you to everyone that made Known World Heralds and Scribes such a success. We should be proud of how we represented the Barony to the Known World during this event.

Fight Practice August 19

Hello,
Weather permitting, there will be fight practice on Sunday August 19, from 2 until 6 PM at the Washington Blvd site. Loaner armor will be available.
Please be aware that there are a number of large white trailers taking up over half of the parking lot.  If you can carpool to practice, it would be helpful.

Thrown weapons practice cancelled

Konichiwa Debatable Lands! Unfortunately, I will be cancelling practice this week. And it has nothing to do with parking. Post pennsic week has exceptionally difficult, and, well, I’m out of spoons. So in the interest of self preservation, and at the encouragement of loved ones, I will be taking this week off, and be back at it next week. Until then, takes care of yourselves out there.

Archery Practice & parking squeeze

Archery is on for this Sunday! (August 19th)

Join us at Highland Park 11am-1pm for some great Archery. 🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹 Loaner equipment is available, first come first served.

Please note last we went past the site parking was mostly taken up by large wide new house sections. Parking will be tight tomorrow.

Pennsic Reflections

Good Evening Debatable Lands!

I’m looking for some input from our Baroney on your experiences at Pennsic! If you have a moment please send me a short paragraph or two about your experiences at Pennsic. It could be this Pennsic or your favorite memories from Pennsics past.

I’m also looking for any other content that you’d like to submit.

Remember that the deadline for submissions of content as well as officers reports is September 15th!

Reminder: Business Meeting is TONIGHT

So, you know when you get back from Pennsic and you’re busy catching up at work and home and you forget things? That’s exactly what happened to me. I apologize for the short reminder, but TONIGHT is the Business Meeting for the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands will be tonight, 15 August 2018 from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church (416 W North Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 – map).

The Agenda will be:
1. Open Meeting
2. Approve minutes from previous meeting
3. Officer’s Reports
4. Close Meeting

The Officers of the Debatable Lands are elected by the membership and is made up of members of the populace, just like you. The Officers are responsible for ensuring that the policies of the Kingdom and Barony are followed and are accountable to the populace of the Debatable Lands. The Business meeting is open to everyone in the Barony and attendance by the populace is encouraged.

Attention BMDL fighters!

Greetings from your BMDL Unit Commander!

If you are fighting with the barony for *any* battle at Pennsic, please respond using your method of choice (email, FaceBook, Twitter, whatevs) between now and Friday, July 27. Any specifics you can provide (“I’m only fighting the field”…”I’m not fighting the woods”) will be extremely helpful!

If you are fighting with the barony and have not yet received a baldric, please find me at Pennsic! We are located at N13, in Camp Goedeten, which is across from BMDL camp and down the block from Herontir.

I eagerly await leading us into battle for the glory of the Debatable Lands and beloved AEthelmearc!
