This Sunday is the pre-Pennsic Barony Meeting! Take a break from your Pennsic prep to join us for an exciting and informative Barony Meeting, a glorious garb swap, and an excellent class/Q&A for new Pennsic-goers. To participate in the fun, join us at the Washington Blvd practice site. Things get started at 1:00 p.m. EDT, which is also when the Garb Swap will begin. Hello my lovelies!! It’s THAT time of year again. Yesss.. Yes it is!

GARB GIVEAWAY!

It’s time for our annual BMDL Garb Giveaway/Exchange!!

Please, bring your garb that doesn’t fit, isn’t your style, or has been sitting around unused just waiting for someone to love.
What’s that? Have you more than garb? Bring that too! Fabric, trim, feast gear, shoes, crafting supplies, toys, anything medieval..etc.

Newcomers (Less than 6-8 months in the SCA) go first, then Everyone else can come help themselves!

It is Sunday from 1pm to 3pm, you can drop off items anytime. The site is the Washington Blvd practice site.

**This year, we’re asking for everyone to also bring an item to donate to Paladin’s Pantry or CareBox Pittsburgh.**

If you have things to donate but cannot make it to the meeting that day, let myself or Liam know and we’ll find a way to pick it up! Constance can be contacted on Facebook or via email at aechirurgeon@gmail.com.

Please note, nothing is for sale. This is an exchange, and giveaway.

Immediately following the Barony Meeting, there will be a class for new Pennsic-goers called “So, it’s your first Pennsic” being held by Lord Yoshi and Lord Ronin. This is a valuable class that will give you a better idea of what to expect and what kinds of things you can do at Pennsic. Even if you’re not able to attend this year and would like to get an idea of what Pennsic is like, this class would also be useful for you.

Hello Debatable Lands and friends! This year’s Baronial Reception at Pennsic will be during Middle Weekend, on Sunday the 5th starting up at 5pm. I’m going to be putting together some “light dinner” level food for everyone, and the current plan looks something like this-

Standard carb n’ dairy snacks (Bread, herbed butters, crackers, cheeses)
Cured meats
Veggies, both fresh and pickled
Seasonal fruits
Warm carrot slaw w/ toasted mustard seed
Bruised kale
Chicken salad
Stonefruit meatballs (Beef)
White bean pseudo-Hummus
German-style potato salad

Specifics are liable to shift depending on price and availability, but the general idea is there. If you have any questions, concerns, dietary restrictions, offers to help, or things you’d like to donate, then please send me an email at legbascrossroad(at)gmail(dot)com with “Baronial Dinner!” or something like that in the subject line.

Also, please really do email me if you have dietary restrictions. I specialize in allergen-friendly cooking, and I revel in a challenge. I -will- make sure you have something to eat. Current restrictions I’m already planning for are vegetarian, kosher, peanut, tree nut, gluten, and dairy. If you are any one of those you’ll be able to eat most of the menu, no adjustments needed.

It’s that time of year again, everyone that is going to Pennsic is furiously sewing, packing, and updating their calendars with classes, courts, vigils, parties, and get-togethers of many varieties. For those attending their first Pennsic, it can all be a little overwhelming. It can also be a bittersweet time for those unable to attend Pennsic this year.

Archery is on for this Sunday! (July 8th)

Join us at Highland Park 11am-2pm for some great Archery. 🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹 Loaner equipment is available, first come first served.

Konichiwa Debatable Lands!! Thrown weapons practice will be held this Sunday from 11-2pm. Loaner great will be available. And I have something special for us this week.  We will be “retiring” the spear target I’ve been using… With a large axe! No worries, I have one to replace it. But I’m going to bring a two handed axe for folks to try and “retire” the target with. Should be fun. See you there

Hello,
Fight practice is returning to it’s usual time and location. Sunday July 8, from 2 til 6 at the Washington Blvd site.
A reminder, this fight practice will be the last one scheduled before July 13. That is the last day you can get your primary authorization if you want to fight at Pennsic this year. If anyone wants to authorize, we should be able to do it this weekend.
For the rest of the fighters, please check the expiration date on your authorization. If it will expire soon, we can deal with that on Sunday as well.

On a personal note I just apologize for not making the announcement sooner. Some personal, mundane, issues reared their ugly head.

This Sunday, July 1st Archery practice will start at Noon.

Instead of the usual site, we will be at the address below. Come and join us for some Christmas in July Fun. There will be loaner gear available first come first served, and then we share.
