Greetings from the Baronial Steward!

I would like to thank Arianna, Robert, Rachel, Ian, Finé, Turlough, She’erah, Dani, and Elsbeth for helping make quick work of the counting of the larder. Extra thanks to Arianna for helping with the data entry after all the counting. This is a task that occurs annually in preparation for the budget meeting in April.

Heavy practice and fencing will be held this Sunday, February 20th, at our new winter site:

Practice will be held 11am to 3pm.

Sir Bors will be filling in for me as MIC. No loaner gear will be available.

All persons attending will need to provide either proof of vaccination, or a negative covid test done within the prior 72 hours. All attendees must wear masks at all times while indoors regardless of vaccination status. This includes while fighting. If you have any questions regarding these policies, you can reach out to the Seneschal, or me.

Although the SCA complies with all applicable laws to try to ensure the health and safety of our event participants, we cannot eliminate the risk of exposure to infectious diseases during in-person events. By participating in the in-person events of the SCA, you acknowledge and accept the potential risks. You agree to take any additional steps to protect your own health and safety and those under your control as you believe to be necessary.

Vivant! The Debatable Lands held the first Stellar Tournaments since October!

Congratulations to Lord Robert MacEwin of Thornhill, New Defender of the Moon, in the Rapier list!!

Congratulations to THL Rhys of Myles End, who successfully Defended his title of Defender of the Sun, in the Heavy list!!

Thank you to our marshals, Sir Koredono and Don Jorundr, our MOL Lady Vika, our herald, Baron Brandubh, and our Bye Fighter, Master Jussi.

Shouts out to Mistress Graidhne as covid checker, THL Guillaume and Don Jorundr as practice marshals, THL Elss for learning about MOLing, and THL Guillaume and Master Kieran as Stellar Tourney originators.

In addition to our normal practice, their Excellencies will host the Stellar Tournaments for Heavy and Rapier this Sunday, February 13th, at our new winter site:

Don’t forget! We’ll be holding both the Moon List (rapier) and Sun List (heavy) at practice this Sunday!

Timing is fluid, but rapier will be first (11:30 or noon-ish?) and heavy after (1:30-ish?).

We hope to see our fighters come our and vie for glory and practice for tourneys! And we hope to see our voice heralds and MOLs who’d like to get get some practice in as well! Time to shine like the sun and moon!

Practice runs from 11am to 3pm at Ace Axe throwing near the Waterfront. The actual practice announcements for that activity (with info you need about covid protocols!) will be announced by the marshals.

Salve Accolens!

As we have a very large inside winter fighting site, with very high ceilings, we have decided to start holding Stellar Tournaments again!

More details closer to the date, but mark your calendars for practice on Sunday, February 13th! We’ll be holding both the Sun List (heavy fighting) and Moon List (rapier fighting). All are welcome. A great opportunity for fighters, heralds, MoLs, and List runners to practice their tournament skills!

Practice occurs from 11am to 3pm. Sky List (Archery) will resume in the spring.

The Barony follows all SCA and Kingdom rules and protocols, including pandemic protocols. Please see practice announcements for details on that.

We acknowledge and celebrate that folks will make their own decisions about physical attendance at SCA activities during these uncertain times. The Stellar Tournaments will continue, so there will be other opportunities to participate beyond this one.
