Salve Accolens, Archers!
As the weather turns colder and the leaves change colors, the archery season is coming to an end for this year. This Sunday’s practice, November 1st starting at 11:00 am, will be our last outdoor practice until the spring. With the fencing and heavy practices moving to their winter indoor location the same day, I will extend our normal practice for as long as people want to continue to shoot.
In addition we will be holding our next Sky List Stellar Tournament during practice – Lord Johann Wulfeken has prepared a shoot to decide the next Defender of the Sky, and all archers with the proper equipment are welcome to participate.
Finally, I would like to officially announce that I will be stepping down as the baronial Captain of the Archers at the conclusion of practice on Sunday.
It has been an honor and privilege to serve in this capacity for the last 3 years, and I have been delighted to see the massive growth of our barony’s archery program in that time. I cannot take sole credit for that, however – the program has been supported by countless individuals who have shared their knowledge, guidance, and enthusiasm with the many newcomers who have joined us for practices who have then gone on to share that with the next batch of newcomers. Special thanks goes to our outgoing Regional Deputy Marshal Godzimir the Golden for encouraging and enabling many of us to pursue and attain marshaling certification.
I am handing over the mantle of Captain of the Archers to Lord Ivor Ioan o’r Llyn, and I have the utmost confidence in him to continue the work that has been done by myself and my predecessors.
Yours in Service,
Niall mac Rædwulf
