Heritage Fest Demo

Hello Debatable Lands!

The Allegheny Cemetery in Lawrenceville is turning 175 years old this year and they’ve invited us to come celebrate with them! Join us on Sept. 7th from 11am – 3pm for Heritage Fest!

Historical re-enactors from every time period have been invited and we’re going to use this as an opportunity to show the city what we can do! If you’re available to fight, fence, do a fiber display, play an instrument, do some calligraphy & illumination, or anything else then respond here –

Other groups that will be at the event include:

– The Appalachian Longhunters: Frontier Trading Outpost
– Civil War Pittsburgh: Artifacts and Walking Tours
– WWII Bomber Pilot & Field Camp: Artifacts and Demonstrations (plus U.S.O. show)
– Scottish Highlander & Pipers

They’ll also have food trucks, face painting, live music, AND a petting zoo!

It’s definitely going to be a lot of fun and it’ll be a great chance for us to show off. I hope to see you there!

Yours in Service,
Lord Rónán Ó Conaill

Woodworking at Practice Tomorrow

The archers of the Debatable Lands are in need of some new target stands! The Woodworking Guild has been asked to help out by building a few more new stands, and what better place to do that than at Archery Practice?

We’ll be meeting up at the Washington Boulevard Practice site tomorrow (Sunday, 2019.08.18) at around 11am to take care of that. Bring some hands tools or cordless tools if you have them. We probably need saws, drills, drill bits, wrenches, sanders, and the like.

See you tomorrow!

Business Meeting Minutes

Thank you to everyone that made time to join us at the meeting last night. The Business meeting just after Pennsic is always in the middle of laundry and re-entry into the real world, so we’re not always at our most motivated.

I would like to congratulate Lady Arthes MacLeod on being re-affirmed as our Baronial Exchequer for another two-year term. It’s nice to know that we’re in good hands for another two years. Thank you for volunteering another two years and for your time and efforts over the last two years.

The next Barony Meeting will be on Sunday, 15 September 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Washington Blvd practice site. This is traditionally our newcomer meeting.

The next Business Meeting will be on Wednesday, 2 October 2019 at 8:00 p.m. at Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church on the North Side.
