Looking for content

From the desk of the Chronicler,

Good evening Debatable Lands! The office of the Chronicler is looking for content and assistance with content gathering. Whether you would like to submit an article for the blog and Althing or want to help me finding new content to publish please contact me at Chronicler@debatablelands.aethelmearc.org.

If you have content for me send it as often as you like! With the publishing through the blog we want to try and have new content as often as possible.

If you would like to assist the office in gathering new content please contact me and we’ll work on making you a deputy to the office so you can publish the content you collect.

Thank you for your continued contribution to the Althing,

Tigerna A. Sionnach MacLeod

A Call for Archery Novelty Ranges

A Call for the Æthelmearc Pennsic Novelty Challenge

Our Archer General is looking for novelty shoots to be created and run during war week at Pennsic! Each day during war week (except for the day of the Champions shoot) we will host a new novelty challenge to run from 9am-11am. We are looking for the groups of Æthelmearc to each host their own novelty to contribute to the challenge.

All novelty challenges should include:
  • Simple scoring for easy tallying
  • Targets to shoot at distances between
    5 and 20 yards
  • A prize to be announced and awarded
at the end of their novelties run

Please contact our Archer General, his excellency Baron Edward Harbinger, with any questions or novelty challenges you wish to contribute.

June Aestel: By the Numbers

Greetings, Good Barony and beyond, from Gwendolyn the Graceful!

The June issue of the Aestel has arrived on the membership portal, so it’s time for a few fun notes. This is part of my continuing series of newsletter spotlights.

JUNE AESTEL: BY THE NUMBERS

2: Board of Directors nominees from AEthelmearc (Vivant!)

2: Important activities at Pennsic which were announced in TRMs’ letter to the populace (Party on!)

1: The number of officers who had reported rules revisions to the kingdom Seneschal as of publication  (Affectionate side-eye)

9: Events listed in the calendar for June (Wow!)

7: Events with announcements included in the newsletter  (Woo!)

And 2: Kingdom arms featured on the cover!  (Vivat, Eastrealm)

Members, check out this month’s information at the SCA website. Thanks as always to our Kingdom Chronicler, THL Aine, who labors each month to assemble this publication.

Until next time, I remain,

Ever in Service,

Gwen

Fencing Practice Cancelled Due to Weather

There will be no practice today since it has been raining since yesterday with no signs of stopping.

There will also be no practice next Sunday due to War Practice. The field will be open Friday and Saturday so come out and fence as much as you want.

We will resume practice Sunday May 27 at Washington Blvd after the Barony Meeting.

A and S — Fletching — Sunday, May 13th

=============================================
FLETCHING!

Yes, it is Mother’s Day. Yes, it may rain; if it does, we may cancel this week’s A&S. Call me for verification if you wish, I will also post on FB.

FLETCHING!
Tomorrow/Sunday is A&S in BMDL, and this week’s class is on modern fletching, and will be taught by Master Urho Waltterinen. This is only the second time that Urho has taught for us, so please take advantage of this rare opportunity. Because this is a time-consuming process, as we must wait for the glue to dry, we are starting a little earlier than usual at 12:30. All of the jigs, glue, shafts, feathers and all the other things will be brought for us to learn on. Thanks, Urho!!

Location: Washington Boulevard martial practice site
Address: Allegheny River Blvd and Washington Blvd.
Directions: http://www.debatablelands.org/martial/fight_directions.php
Time: 12:30 PM.  Weather permitting!

NEW Standard disclaimers here:

We are much more accessible to our less mobile friends, have free parking, and a pet-friendly site. Yay!

However, keep in mind that you should bring everything you need for your comfort including a chair, a beverage or snack, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, cabana boy, musical instruments, boots, sun umbrella, foul weather gear, etc., etc., etc. Also, the site has a porta-john and no running water so please make appropriate preparations.

I will have a table and a jug of water so that you can refill your water bottles or mugs.

If you need assistance or have questions, please call or text me at 724-759-3333.

Thank you for asking! These meetings are free and there is no materials charge, as we are generously supported by the Barony and by those who teach.

See you there!  Elss Augsburg
