Hello everyone!
Coming to you live and in technicolor, it’s your chatelaine Svava! I’m actually in a bit of a pickle and looking for assistance from everyone.
As you know, part of my role is helping folks new to the SCA and new to the area find their niche in our game. From rapier to scribal to cooking and forestry, we have so many wonderful groups and guilds in our barony. I love seeing the various ways people play in the SCA and the different interests one could explore! I’d love to help people find new parts of the SCA they can fall in love with.
~HOWEVER~
Finding the information about these groups and their meetings is rough, even for me. If you run any official SCA activity in the barony could you please take a moment to check if it’s listed correctly on the baronial calendar and under the What We Do header on the website? This would help me guide folks curious about your area of interest to you AND show what a vibrant and active community we have in the barony.
If you find your meeting or practice information is incorrect or missing, please reach out to the Web Minister at webminister@debatablelands.aethelmearc.org
If you need something added to the calendar, you can email the Seneschal at seneschal@debatabelands.org
Thank You Kindly,
Svava

Iris Festival – one lost and found, but tons of thank yous
Greetings noble populace,
We had a lovely Iris Festival again this year. Once again the weather was sunny and not too hot. The day full of horse play, classes, demos, food, and more cookies than you can possibly eat.
I’d like to start with lost and found, because if I don’t you will miss it in all the thanks. There was a palm leaf fan left in the picnic pavilion. Please contact sbooth (at) sbooth (dot) net, if it is yours or if you know who the owner is.

This event ran smoothly from the planning before event, to the setup Friday and Saturday, throughout the day, to the speedy cleanup, and beyond when I returned borrowed equipment, thanks to the help of so many people.
First, I want to thank everyone who attended. Special thanks to King Andreas Morgan and Queen Kallista Morganova who changed their plans to join us. Thanks to Baron Brandubh O Donnghaile and Baroness Hildarun Hugalmann for being such wonderful hosts. Thank you also to friends we have missed who came to the event, Master Creador, Mistress Ts’vee’a, and Mistress Amaryllis.
Thank you to THL Gesa, our equestrian marshal and inspiration for the queen and all the rest of us.
Thank you to THL Elss, THL Elsa, and THL Sasson for the food planning and the bento box lunches.
Thank you to royalty staff Bob the Herald and all the help his staff provided.
Thank you to the Elinor Walden, royalty liaison.
Thank you to the equestrian helpers for help before, during, and especially for cleanup: Jackie, Gloria, Jarden, Joel, Ronan, Sarah, and Megan.
Thank you to Bryheres Gwendolyn the Graceful for publicity and class/demo coordination.

Mid-week archery practice is happening on Wednesday!
Hello Debatable Lands!
Do you wish you could practice your archery more than once a week? Well you’re in luck! This week on Wednesday June 14th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Lord Godzimir the Golden will be holding another weekday evening archery practice at the Washington Boulevard site.
Come on out and sharpen your skills as we shoot until the sun goes down!
Stellar Champions
Congratulations to our newest Stellar Champions!
On Sunday the 11th day of June the Stellar Moon list was opened, 6 fencers vied for the title and Master Donnan MacDudhsidhe proved the Victor of the Moon List.
Later that same afternoon, The Sun list was opened and 10 heavily armored combatants entered in tourney field for the Glory that was won by Lord Dagon Wrathmonger.
So Vivant to our newest Stellar Champions Donnan and Dagon!

Sun and Moon Stellar Tourneys TODAY, 6/11!
Hello Debatable Lands! Salve Accolens!
Reminder that we have two of our premier practice tournaments- the Stellar Tournaments – today, Sunday June 11th! At the normal practice site at the Washington Blvd parklet.
The winners are named Defenders of the Sun, Moon, or Sky (Archery), complete with incredible regalia and MUCH GLORY. It’s an opportunity for martial folks, heralds, MOLs, list runners, marshals and MITs and consorts to participate in Tournaments of the same style as the Kingdom “big” tourneys (Crown Tourney, QRC, and Kingdom Archery Champs). Come and see!
Times are a little fluid. The Moon List (Rapier Fighting) will occur not before 1:30 pm, and will be before the Sun List.
The Sun List (Heavy Fighting) will be after the Moon List.
With much gratitude to Hara-shonogon, who volunteered to MOL, even though the event stewarded Iris Festival and Baronial Equestrian Champs yesterday! (Much more on that later – it was amazing!)
PS: Archery practice is happening today, but Thrown Weapons practices is not.
Iris Festival: Final Reminders
The Iris Festival is about to begin!
As we head into the weekend, please remember that this is a public park with little in the way of facilities. The weather is shaping up to be a beautiful day, but remember your sunscreen, bug spray, sunshades, chairs, feast gear, and plenty of water! Be aware that there was poison ivy on the site last year and there may be ticks.
This is also a great time to make sure you have your blue card or a picture of your blue card (those who have them). All attendees will need to sign the waiver for equestrian activities.
See you Saturday!
Ever in Service,
Gwen

Iris Festival Arts+Sciences
In addition to the many classes at Iris Festival this year, space will be set aside in the main pavilion again this year for an Arts and Sciences display. Please bring examples of your work in any art or craft. All are welcome. Projects related to East Asia or Japan are encouraged, of course. If you will be wearing your project that day, photographs and short write-ups would still be a great way to let people know about your work. If you have research to present, please bring copies for people to read.
This site is covered but outdoors, so make sure to protect your project from errant breezes and possible stray raindrops. There is also a site restriction of “No glass bottles.”
I had some lovely discussions with last year’s entrants, and they provided great content for my report to the kingdom. There will be no competition and no judging. If you have any questions you’d like to ask a more experienced craftsperson, we can probably find somebody to help out.
