The report of the Court of Praetoria Aurelia Argentia Prima and Baronessa Violeta da Valencia, ninth Baronage of the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands, held on the 7th day of June Anno Societatis 60 at The Iris Festival, as recorded by Oyama Shichi-i Michiharu, Deputy Pursuivant, assisted by Lærifaðir jǫrundr hinn rotinn.
Their Excellencies opened court with minimal fanfare, focusing on the ongoing aetherial court broadcast from Scarlet Guard Inn. They thanked everyone who attended, noting specifically the boisterous activities and well-populated tournaments
Their Excellencies began by inviting up any newcomers to speak with them. They remarked positively at how many were in attendance, and gave each a gift of hand-struck coins. Their Excellencies invited them to trade them, gift them, or otherwise do what they will with them.
Their Excellencies invited the Event Steward, The Honorable Lady Niamh bean Bhrain ui Labhradha, to address the populace. Her Ladyship spoke fondly of the many people who assisted in setup and tear down. She thanked Don Robert MacEwin of Thornhill for his work as the day’s Marshal In Charge, Lady Tristyn of Gryffyn’s Keep for the Thrown Weapons tournament, The Honorable Lady Azenari Basandere for organizing the Baronial Equestrian Championship, and Lady Finé Failain for leading the bento box dayboard. Her Ladyship also thanked Lord Skjoldr Bjorn for his help as MoL, Master Alaric MacConnal for running registration, and The Honorable Lady Svava Jorudottir for hosting the newcomer’s tea.
Their Excellencies next called up The Honorable Lady Azenari Basandere to speak on the Baronial Equestrian Championship. Her Ladyship spoke of the various trials that the competitors had to overcome, before calling up Lord Yarden of the Debatable Lands. Lord Yarden was named the Baronial Equestrian Champion and given its accompanying duties, the regalia, and a scroll by The Honorable Lady Rachel Dalicieux.
Their Excellencies then invited Don Robert MacEwin of Thornhill to speak on the day’s Fencing activities. Don Robert spoke of the first tournament, a weapon’s progression bearpit. He announced the points winner as Luminaria Salvadore de la Torres, and the Last Fencer Standing as Lærifaðir jǫrundr hinn rotinn. Next he spoke of the afternoon’s tournament, Duels at High Noon-ish. The winner was announced as Don Ferruccio DiCosimo.
Next, their Excellencies called up Lady Tristyn of Gryffyn’s Keep to speak of the thrown weapon’s tournament. The tournament, sponsored by the Æthelmearc Royal Guild of Foresters, was themed around various forestry-based facts and knowledge - culling invasive insects, maintaining healthy harvesting practices of plants, and promoting the growth of beneficial fungi. Lady Tristyn announced a first and second place, Lord Hans Drachen Sohn and Aaron of the Debatable lands, respectively. The prizes were generously supplied by various members of the Royal Guild of Foresters - Master Morien MacBain, Lærimoðir Álfrún ketta, Romie Fenwood, and Mistress Constance Glyn Dwr. So numerous were the prizes that they were split between first and second place!
Their Excellences then demanded the presence of Oyama Shichi-i Michiharu. Michi-san was then given a Lapis Comet for their various arts and sciences, with insistence that they continue to learn and try new things. Their excellencies also reminded them of their representation at the Seven Pearls. The scroll was illustrated by Ishiyama-Shonagon Gen'tarou Yori'ie, with wordsmithing by The Honorable Lord Owen Tegg, and calligraphy by The Honorable Lady Lisabetta de Rossi.
Finally, their Excellencies wanted to take a moment to speak of a newcomer to the Barony, Istini. Though they had already left site, Baronessa Violeta and Praetoria Prima praised their upstanding character - noting their diligence in picking up litter, their assistance in making sure the Duels tournament ran smoothly, and their overall kind and respectful demeanor.
Their Excellencies addressed the populace once more, taking a moment to congratulate the premiers of the Order of the Mark, and not wishing to take up any more time from that historic event.
There being no further business, the Court of Their Excellencies was closed.
