Larder Re-Org Day – Saturday, Aug 25

Next Saturday, August 25, is Fix the Larder Day!!!

If you have enjoyed the delicious food served at events, then please come and help organize our massive collection of cooking gear.

Any person can do this, of any age or ability — we will be carrying, sorting, organizing, putting things in boxes, counting, listing, photographing, and otherwise taking stock. (See what I did there?) If you are a new cook or wannabe cook or experienced cook, this is a great way to learn what equipment is available for your use.

Work will start at 9:30 am at the home of THLady Michelina Cenomani da Trento, whose address is in the Dark Pages (https://sites.google.com/site/ariannaofwynthrope/). We will be working in the garage, so wear your grubbies. Bring a chair if you need one.

If you have questions or concerns or need the address sent to you privately, email me at elss.of.augsburg at gmail dot com, find me on FB as Elss Augsburg, or call/text to 724-759-3333.

As always, many hands make light work. Any amount of time you can help will be deeply appreciated.

A and S — Pennsic Tale Telling — Sunday, August 19

If you went to War, you have a story to tell! Bring your handouts, stories, and notes, and share the fun of Pennsic with all of us; everyone is welcome even if you didn’t go to the war. Living vicariously is perfectly period!

I made a penannular brooch, drove a watch shift, and went to Bartertown — what did you do?

Court report for Known World Heralds & Scribes Symposium

Greetings from your Comet Pursuivant! Here is the court report of Baron Brandubh and Baroness Hilderun, at KWHSS, held on June 9, AS 53

Their Excellencies thanked everyone for their attendance, and then invited the autocrats, Master Alaric MacConnel and THL Raven Whitehart to come forward and acknowledge those who helped put this amazing event together.

Their Excellencies gave way for the procession of Tsaritsa Ian’ka of Atenvelt to join them on the dias.

A moment of silence was requested for Master Taliesin, Sea Panther herald of Trimaris, who had passed away eariler that week.

Their Excellencies invited Master Malcolm Bowmann to come forward to announce the induction of the newest Herald Extraordinaire of the Society, Baron Yehuda ben Mosha.

Her Excellency then made a point to recognize all the collected scribes of the Known World, as there are many who do not receive just recognition.

His Excellency followed by recognizing all the collected heralds of the Known World.

Dame Julianna de Luna was invited to come before Their Excellencies. It was noted how wonderful it was that she, originally a resident of the BMDL, had the opportunity to return to the Debatable Lands as Laurel Herald of the Society. For her tireless work she was awarded a Comettus Amicus. Scroll by Rivka bat Daniyel (illumination) and Ceindrich verch Elidir (calligraphy).

Dame Alys MacYntoich was next called before Their Excellencies, and also received a Comettus Amicus for society-level service to the heralding community. Scroll by Rivka bat Daniyel (illumination) and Ceindrich verch Elidir (calligraphy).

Their Excellencies invited Master Cormac Mor to come before them and join Dame Julianna and Dame Alys in receiving a Comettus Amicus, also for society-level service to the heralding community. Scroll by Rivka bat Daniyel (illumination) and Ceindrich verch Elidir (calligraphy).

Their Excellencies then reminded everyone to attend the performances of the Debatable Choir, followed by ii Genesii, which begin at 8:30.

There being no further business, the Court of Their Excellencies was closed.

Demo — August 30 — Save the Date!

Dear friends —

Save the date! I know everyone is super busy with Pennsic prep, but I wanted to let everyone know that we were invited to demo at the Children’s Museum Medieval Maker night on Thursday, August 30, from 6:30 to 9:30.

This is a 21 + event, so no clearances are required. They are looking for 20-25 demonstrators, and are looking for fiber artists (weavers, nalbinders, knitters, dyers, enbroiderers, and all the rest), calligraphers, illuminators, equestrians, fighters, fencers, siege engineers, musicians, singers, dancers, royalty – you name it!

i Genesii has been the first to step up, they will be running a play date and getting spectators involved! Who else will be there?

We had several makeshop demos with them, and they really like working with the SCA. They are very flexible and accommodating, so if you want to be a part of it, let me know!

More details to follow. It will be awesome!
