Officer’s Meeting this Wednesday

Wednesday, 1 June 2016, is our bi-monthly Officer’s Meeting. We will start at 8:00 p.m. and the meeting room is Porter Hall A18B. I have attached the minutes from the previous meeting for your review.

If you have it already put together, please send me your report for the meeting so that we have complete records for the meeting minutes.

Also, I have no agenda items beyond Officer’s reports at this time. If you have agenda items, please send those to me by Tuesday, 31 May 2014.

Sunday Practices, May 28th

ARCHERY
Captain of Archers Katheryn Täntzel writes:

Sunday! Archery practice shall be up and running 11am to 2pm at the usual site at Highland Park. Join us for the usual targets, along with 2 additional targets who dare to tempt our baronial archers. Looking forward to seeing you there!

HEAVY WEAPONS

This Sunday… Baronial heavy weapons practice… 2 PM… training, learning, swing some sticks… and melee! Washington Boulevard site. Be there!

FENCING

Sunday Practice May 15 WITH Champions Tournaments!

Greetings to the Debatable Lands from Brandubh et Hilda,

The time has come to name new Martial Champions for our Most Excellent Barony. We invite all interested fighters and Fencers to join the tournaments, at any level, and from any place. However, only Debatable Landers and gentles with Green/Friendship Comets are eligible to become Champion.

We will be having tournaments for both Heavy and Rapier fighting, after the Barony meeting. May 15th, at the Washington Blvd practice site.

Our outgoing Rapier Champion is Dona Fredeburg. The format of the tournament is To Be Determined. We hope fighters of all levels will compete, from new fighters to White Scarves and Masters of Defense.

Our outgoing Heavy Fighting Champion in THL Lothar Hugelmann. As the out going Champ, he’s announced that it’s a regular double elimination tourney with a “span your shield” rule. Barons, Viscounts, Counts, Dukes, Chivalry, Please feel free to enter if you wish to be Champion.

In addition we need Archers! Lord Yoshi will be hosting an archery tournament to choose the Barony’s representative to the Scarlet Guard Challenge at the Guard Inn event in Hornwood on June 11. So tune up your bows to shoot in this engaging challenge.

This Sunday at practice BEFORE the barony meeting there will be an archery tournament as well !!! While this tournament is NOT to choose the archery champion of this fine barony it is for an archer to represent this barony in the Second Annual Scarlet Guard Challenge at Hornwood Scarlet Guard Inn!!! This tournament will start around noon and be hosted by me. Ideal participants are those already planning to attend Hornwood. Bring your A Game everyone , I’d really like it if the Debatable Lands could dominate this challenge for a few years like has been done with the 7 pearls.

Heavy fight practice will be held, starting around 2:00 (pending the end of the Barony Meeting) this Sunday.

In addition, don’t forget that the tournament to decide the new Baronial Heavy Weapons Champion will also be held. All fighters, belted and unbelted, are eligible to compete. See you there!

I will be marshalling while Mistress Fredeburg is unavailable. There will be loaner gear.

If your youth fighter has not yet authorized, NOW is the time to do it! The AEthelmearc Kingdom Youth Championship Tournament is next weekend, May 21st, at AEthelmearc War Practice. We will be pressed for time before the tourney, so the more kids are authorized ahead of War Practice, the better!

The forecast is for rain so keep an eye on this list for updates in case of cancellation.

Weather permitting (as in ground not being mud and not raining) there will be dancing. Going forward there will be dance at every Sunday martial practice ( so not during War Practice etc) again weather permitting. I look forward to dancing with you all, no experience needed, all dances will be taught and called.

Gilded Note Cards

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at gilding with real gold leaf but have been intimidated by the prospect?

Then come to this Gilding workshop, where you will learn to use a variety of binding mediums and how to apply gold leaf.

All participants will gild a notecard that they may keep for
themselves or donate to Their Majesties.. There is a $3.00 fee for materials.

Youth and Heavy Practice Sunday

Two warnings:

1. This Sunday is the annual Pittsburgh Marathon. The fighter practice site is outside the course, but many routes to it from the east and south may be blocked by the Marathon, especially for those coming early for archery and thrown weapons. Your best route in is probably via Rt. 28 to the Highland Park bridge from the north. The race starts at 7am so most of the racers should be done well before fighter practice, but the course may still be open when archery and TW begin. 2. The forecast is for showers turning to thunderstorms by evening. While light rain won’t deter us (especially since with temps predicted to be in the 70s), the practice site has historically been prone to flooding so heavy rain may cause a cancellation. As Knight Marshal, Sir Isenwulf will make that call. Check this Facebook page and the barony email list for any updates.

Archery Practice on Sunday

This upcoming Sunday, (weather permitting) we shall have archery practice, at Washington Blvd. 11am to 2pm. See you there.

Those planning to attend should be aware that this Sunday is also the Pittsburgh Marathon. The course does not include Washington Boulevard, but it does cross at Penn Avenue and at Frankstown Road. Those approaching from Oakland may have trouble reaching the site at certain times, but those approaching from Allegheny River Boulevard should have less trouble.
