On Sunday September 29th, I am having sewing at my house. It will be scroll case sewing day. I have lots of fabric scraps and way too much cardboard. I’m inviting folks that are comfortable with sewing machines to come and sew casings for the cardboard to be scroll cases. They are needed to cover the lovely scrolls that people are awarded. There is a constant need at the baronial and kingdom levels for MORE SCROLL CASES. Time is from 1pm to 5pm. The address is 1105 Shady Avenue, Pittsburgh 15232. Please park on the street. If you are bringing a sewing machine and want to park in the driveway to drop your sewing machine, you may do so. But then, please pull out to make room for others to do the same. Also I’d rather that you did not bring cardboard or fabric. I really would like to use up what I have.

Greetings, fencers! This Sunday (9/22) we will begin fencing practice at 11 AM to make things easier for our out of town visitors here for Coronation. Our weekly beginner/intermediate lesson will be from 1:30 to 2:00 pm as usual.

Hello, Fencers! This Sunday (9/15), bring your Cut and Thrust gear if you’ve got it for our next C&T focused practice. In addition, I’ll be running the next weekly fencing lesson for our beginner & intermediate fencers from 1:30pm to 2pm. Note: we are back to our regular 1pm start this week.

Hi all from Niall!

I’ve decided to continue our mid-week archery practices thru the rest of September with an earlier start and end time, due to the decreasing sunlight in the evening hours. Starting tomorrow (Thursday, 9/12), I will plan to be at the Washington Blvd. location with the archery range open starting at 5:00 pm and closing up shop at 7:30 pm (or whenever it gets too dark to see). I will also start bringing a small-ish selection of our loaner gear for those without their own or for folks who want to try out the new Asiatic recurves. I’ll continue to have run the Thursday mid-week practices as long as I am able and the weather cooperates – so come on out and shoot with us, and get a Royal Round submitted!

UPDATE: For next week’s mid-week practice on September 19th, we will not meet at the Washington Blvd. location – instead, those who are able are encouraged to join our neighbors in Steltonwald for their practice from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Beaver Valley Archery Association.

Greetings, fencers! Tomorrow we will shift fencing practice earlier (11 AM start time) to make things easier for our out of town guests. In addition, we will discuss the incipient C&T grappling experiment! We will break at 1pm for the barony social meeting. Please be cognizant of limited parking.

Just a quick note that I will have the range open on Thursday, 9/5, at 5:30 pm for a mid-week archery practice at the usual Washington Blvd. site. We’ll go until it gets too dark or too cold (or 8:00 pm, whichever comes first).

Greetings good gentles of our Debatable Lands. Next Sunday at martial practices we are going to have a baronial gathering and meeting in the old style. We’ll gather to enjoy each others’ company, have a brief meeting at about 1 pm, do A&S, and still have archery and thrown weapons in the morning and heavy and fencing in the afternoon.

To make this work with our more limited parking is going to take extra effort. We’re looking for a team to chalk lines on the parking lot starting at about 9. We have one volunteer to provide shuttle service to and from the bike track parking down the street but could use a second one. Carpooling would be appreciated, and most people will need to pull in, drop off equipment and then park down the street. Hopefully we can make this work so that we can gather without interrupting martial practices and without paying for more distant sites.

If anyone has a particular A&S project or class they’d like to host please let me know.

Hope everyone has relatively recovered and recharged following Pennsic. I’ll be at the Washington Blvd. site tomorrow evening with the range open from 5:30 until 8:00 pm for a mid-week archery practice.
Also, next Sunday’s regular practice (8/25) will also feature the next in the line of Sky List Stellar Tournaments.

Hello, fencers! Starting this Sunday, August 25th, one practice a month will be focused on Cut & Thrust! Bring your gear if you’ve got it. Some loaner gear will be available as well for folks interested in getting started. (There will still be regular fencing alongside C&T)
