Debatable Brewers and Friends,

Their Excellencies and I have talked about it briefly and We will have a Twelfth Night Competition for Brewing at the Debatable Lands Event.

There will be two selections, one from Alcoholic Beverages and one from Non-Alcoholic Beverages.

The theme will be “Winter Flavors”. Please prepare for us a drink that invites us to enjoy winter spices, fruits, and flavors! Whatever style of drink you make; just make it for a winter wonderland!

What am I thinking of for Winter Flavors?
Gingerbread, Peppermint, Cranberry, Nutmeg, Clove, Cinnamon,
Hazelnut, Pumpkin, Chestnut, Orange, Caramel, Eggnog, Cocoa, Chai, Black Pepper, Turmeric, Chili, Garlic, Butternut Squash, Coriander, Anise, Vanilla, etc.

Due to allergies; your entry must include the full list of ingredients

Bonus points will be given for documentation because knowledge is power! We want to know more about what you make and how you do it; but its not a requirement to participate!

And don’t forget, Our Noble populace loves it when we brew For Science! So don’t be afraid to try a few different ways to get to your Winter Flavor.

The next fiber guild meeting will be Monday, September 16th from 7-9 PM at our usual place, 5167 Rosecrest Dr, Pittsburgh PA.

Since there were requests for a fall dye day, I will be bringing madder dyed samples and my indigo shibori books so we can discuss and plan for a day in October before it gets too cold.

Zoom link will be sent out closer to the date.

Since most of us were in another world last week, the 1st Wednesday of even months business meeting will be tonight instead of last week. Please join us by zoom if you would like to see how business happens in the barony. We’ll be putting final touches on Seven Pearls, getting an update on Agincourt, and looking at a bid for 12th Night, among other things. Everyone is welcome, and it’s a great way to start to get involved in the workings of our hobby. If you’re thinking about a spring event, it isn’t too early to get started either.

Hello all of those who would like to consume tasty libations from the DebatableBrewers!

We will be carding when we serve you. That’s right, you need your ID. We will accept a photo of your ID via your phone or your ID in person. But if you cannot prove that you are of legal Pennsylvania drinking age; We cannot serve you alcohol. That age is 21. (I know it used to be different before I was old enough to drink… but… 21 is the magic number.)

For those of you who do not drink, are not of age, or just don’t want us to know your age in chronological years; We will have a selection of non-alcoholic tasty things; those being both under .5% alcohol and absolutely NO alcohol as per the PA State Laws.

We will also have ice water and you could have LOADS of that. Don Vigo would tell you fish do naughty things in it… but it turns out that it may keep you alive anyhow! I know; its wild!

This information will also hold true at the Æthelmearc Kingdom Party on Monday night and at many other Pennsic Gatherings or Parties. Plan to have your ID if you want booze.

Please Party responsibly; have your id, mind your cup, don’t share your cup with strangers, and take a friend! Don’t make paperwork for the Seneschals; they are on vacation too!

ps In cause you missed it; the DebatableLands Social at Pennsic is Sunday at 3pm in Æthelmearc Royal (N04)

There will be no practice for armored fighting during the weeks of Pennsic. We will resume regular practice starting 8/18/24.

Hi all, from Niall!

Due to Pennsic, both the actual event and the prep-work surrounding it, Official Archery Practices are suspended through August 11th.

(Originally, I had planned for a mid-week practice tomorrow, 7/25, but my Pennsic planning schedule has adjusted, and I’m unable to run it.)

Depending on circumstances, we may resume mid-week practices on August 15th, but our regular Sunday practices will definitely resume on August 18th.
