The Honorable Lady Lisabetta de Rossi ran a largesse derby at Agincourt 15 this past weekend. Nominally, it was a competition, but the real purpose was to collect items that their Majesties Aethelmearc can give as gifts to their populace and to other Kingdoms.
Baroness Aranwen Verch Rhys ap Gwalter brought some lampwork beads and clay tokens.THL Rachel Daliceux displayed some cast resin “enameld” Baronial Comet Award medallionsIshiyama Shonagon donated some wooden boxesKolfinna donated these ginchy stuffed dragons…and these thread + needle cases with escarbuttons.
Thank you everyone for enabling the Crown to disburse the artistic generosity of Glorious Aethelmearc!
If you were a little damp or chilly at Agincourt or if you noticed that the temperature seems to have dropped like a rock, we have a sewing project suggestion: simple cold weather garb. Capes, capelettes, hoods, Japanese dobukus are all simple garments that work well for cold weather. There is investiture and twelfth night coming up in December and January and you want to keep warm. For Sundays in November and December, we plan to work on winter outdoor garments. This is a group effort for folks to come and work. The first two Sundays will be at my house, 1105 Shady Ave, Pittsburgh, 15232. Sewing starts at 2pm and goes until 5pm (or so). Wool is a nice period warm fabric, but some fleece looks reasonably period and is fairly inexpensive and warm. There are sewing machines available. Come make something to keep you warm.
The Report of the Court of Brandubh et Hilderun, Baron and Baroness of the Barony-Marche of the Debatable Lands held at the Queen’s Rapier Championship and Equestrian Games Event on the 8th Day of April anno Societatis 57, Master William de Montegilt Herald.
Their Excellencies welcomed all in attendance to this chilly day of Fencing and Equestrian Fun.
Their Excellencies then invited the Jousters and Equestrians who had come to share their steeds and demonstrate their skills throughout the day’s equestrian activities.
Lord Yarden of the Debatable Lands was called forth and presented with an Iron Comet that had been announced at Debatable Lands Twelfth Night for his skills at the mounted games, winning kingdom and baronial championships, and hosting practices and tournaments. Scroll by THLady Gesa von Wellenstein.
Their Excellencies next called forth Lord Thrain inn Riki and presented him with a Gold Comet for hosting the event, and many Equestrian practices at his place of work for the Barony. Scroll by THLady Gesa von Wellenstein.
Ishiyama Gen’tarou Yori’ie Shonagon was invited forth to speak about the Arts and Sciences Display
Their Excellencies thanked THLady Gesa von Wellenstein for creating all the scrolls for Their court this day.
I was hoping there would be a break in the rain, but it looks like we will continue to have steady rain through our practice time. Therefore, I am calling it for today. See everyone next week.
Due to the rather bleak weather forecast for tomorrow, and the fact that many of us were in attendance for Agincourt, we will be cancelling archery practice tomorrow, Sunday, October 29. We will see if the weather will permit us to hold a proper end-of-season practice next week on Sunday, November 5th.
Hello Debatable Lands and Neighbors! Salve Accolens!
We (Baron Brandubh and Baroness Hilda) are so excited for Agincourt tomorrow, Oct 28th! So many amazing activities – archery (of course), fencing (with a Garnet and Steel Invite coin!), heavy fighting (tavern BRAWWWLL and more), a *very* cool A&S display, dancing, mask-making, the Kingdom Thrown Weapons Championship, food food food, and more!
But it’s a bittersweet sort of excited for us, because it’s our very last full event as your Baron and Baroness. If you’re on the fence about attending, we’d humbly like to request that you do come – we’d like our last full event in our Office to be something to remember, with as many of our beloved people around us and enjoying the Barony’s festivities as possible! There may be tears (the Baroness is a softie), but there will be guaranteed fun, camaraderie and lots of laughs!
And in honor of both the Agincourt theme of the event, and the penultimate event of our tenure, we have something special in mind for our last full Court – we’re having it ALL DAY LONG! Yup, we will be having a roaming Campaign Court, doing pieces of business all day on the various Fields (and Rooms) of Honor, just like (we assume) Henry V of England and the French army did!!
Be prepared to declare your affinity – English or French! Tallies are afoot! If you see us “on Campaign”, come join our retinue, bring your voices and instruments to hum the Agincourt Carol or the Baronial Fight Song! Let’s have a blast!
See you there!
In Levitate et Caritate, and Cheers, Baroness Hilda and Baron Brandubh
P.S.: Does anyone have like, a LOT of kazoos we can borrow??
Fencing – Lucky Coin 13 for the Tournament of Garnet and Steel There will be a tournament to decide the recipient of coin 13 for the Tournament of Garnet and Steel!
The tournament will be an English vs French tournament focusing on the works of George SIlver and Captain Peloquin. Fighters are encouraged to look up both manuals available for free on Wikitenauer –
George Silver – https://wiktenauer.com/wiki/George_Silver Captain Peloquin – https://wiktenauer.com/wiki/Captain_Peloquin
Be prepared to explain their interpretation and which portions of the manuals they are going to present during the tournament.
The tournament format will be based on the numbers for the day.
After the fencing tournament, there will be a Cut and Thrust tournament later in the day.
Please find the schedule of events for Agincourt! Can’t wait to see everyone!
