7 Pearls Champions

Yesterday was the 7 Pearls Inter-Baronial Championships hosted in the Barony of Thescorre, and we have terrific news! Debatable Lands won 2 of the 6 championships!

Congratulations to Don Robert MacEwin of Thornhill Inter-Baronial 7 Pearls Fencing Champion!

Congratulations to THLord Godzimir the Golden, who shot in memory of Lord Ronan O’Conaill, Inter-Baronial 7 Pearls Archery Champion!

Yesterday all of the 7 Baronies of Aethelmearc remembered and honored our loss of Lord Ronan O’Conaill, and others that we have lost since we last gathered. We would thank our champions who made the long trek to Thescorre with us this weekend to represent the Debatable Lands. Don Robert MacEwin of Thornhill – Fencing Winner, Lord Dagon the Ordained – Heavy 2nd place, Lady Elinor Waldin – Arts and Sciences, Lord Rhys Dunl0p – Thrown Weapons, THLord Godzimir the Golden – Archery Winner, THLady Nichola Beese – Bardic. We thank them for supporting Us, each other, and the barony through this time, and their service at the event outside of their competitions.

We would also thank the members of the Populace who traveled to support Us, our champions and the event itself: THLady Lisabetta de Rossi for retaining and serving as our herald for court, Sir Guillaume le Noir for hospitality, use of his shade, snacks and drinks, Lady Svava Jorudottir for serving as Marshal, Master Alaric MacConnal for retaining, setting up court, and marshaling, and Lady Ran for her support and photography.

Thank you all so much, we mourned, we celebrated and we felt loved.

Cheers,

Terribly Sad News

Salve Accolens Debatable Lands,

It is with exceedingly heavy hearts that we write to you today.  Lord Ronan O’Conaill, Ben Nemeth, was found deceased at his home on Saturday morning, August 19th.  There are no details yet as to cause.

We are heartbroken at his passing, as he leaves a giant Ronan-sized hole in our  Barony and all our lives.  Ronan was our Baronial Herald, previous Baronial Chatelain, a Kingdom Deputy Herald, student to Mistress Ts’vee’a, our Baronial Captain of Archers, archer, thrower, fighter, woodworker, tailor, brewer, camp fire master, and a very good friend.

Ronan had a voracious appetite to learn and create, matched only by his patience and kindness in teaching others, and with a loving heart as big as the sky. He was a shining star in our barony and now has been committed to the heavens. We are devastated and we miss him terribly.

Our hearts go out to his ladies Allegra and Elinor, and his family and loved ones.  Please respect their privacy at this time; final services are private.

The Barony and we will need some time to fill his shoes, and more communication will come regarding memorial activity and any other information appropriate to share. In the meantime, feel free if you are so moved to wear a favor or armband of torn black cloth, in honor of his Jewish heritage.

His obituary is here: https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/benjamin-nemeth-obituary?id=52914253

Please do hug each other, and reach out to your friends and us for support and love during this difficult time.

With all our Love,

Brandubh et Hilderun

Call for Cookies for the Baronial Party @ Pennsic!

Hi all from Niall!

I am handling food for the Baronial Party and Court at Pennsic this year, being held at Aethelmearc Royal on Middle Sunday from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm! (Surely you’ve seen posts about it *somewhere*…)

Following Baronial Court (starting between 2:00 and 2:15), we will be serving light fare, featuring the ever-popular Walking Tacos, available in your choice of Fritos (which are gluten-free) or nacho cheese Doritos, as well as your choice of toppings (all of which should be gluten-free). (I am also considering a vegetarian option to the taco meat; more on that to come.)

The Brewers’ Guild will be providing various libations from brewers across the Debatable Lands, and ice water and lemonade will also be available. There will also be fruit and vegetable trays, chips and salsa, and an authentic Debatable Lands Cookie Table – this last item is the main reason for this post.

PLEASE BRING COOKIES FOR THE COOKIE TABLE! If you have shelf-stable or pre-packaged cookies, you can drop them off at the Debatable Lands camp (N10) anytime during Peace Week prior to noon on Middle Sunday. Homemade cookies and the like can be dropped at AE Royal between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm on Sunday. We have attendees with allergy considerations, so please do not bring cookies with peanuts or peanut butter, please mark any homemade cookies with potential allergen information, and gluten-free cookies are always welcome.

I look forward to seeing you all at the party!
